On Saturday and Sunday November 12th and 13th, 2016, The United Athletes of the Pacific Ocean (UAPO) and WiLDCOAST will hold the 6th Annual Walter Caloca Surf Open at San Miguel, Ensenada, Baja California. This annual charity event is one of the largest surf events in Ensenada and one of the few bi-national events in the Californias. With youth competitors from the United States and México, spectators, music, prizes and other entertainment, this year’s event is expected to be a tremendous success. Proceeds from the event will support UAPO’s efforts to promote a bi-national surfing experience among youths on both sides of the US/Mexico border. Sign up online now! (See below)

Baja Bound Surf Series

A new binational surf series has been established for the 2016/17 season. The series will combine four surf contests in Baja and San Diego: The Walter Caloca Surf Open at San Miguel, The Rosarito Open at Rosarito Beach, The Dempsey Holder in Imperial Beach, and the Baja Surf Club Invitational at San Miguel, Ensenada.

The series will be organized by UAPO (United Athletes of the Pacific Ocean), WiLDCOAST and Baja Bound Insurance, with the goal of promoting youth surfing, cultural exchange and environmental issues shared by the US and Mexico. "Surfing in Mexico started in the sixties because of surfers traveling the coast searching for waves" says UAPO President Alfredo Ramirez. "It didn't matter if they were in Alta California or Baja California - friendships were created, surf clubs were born, and it produced a community beyond borders. This new surf series is a testament to the idea of one ocean, one passion."

Baja Bound Insurance will be putting up a prize purse of $3,000 that will be awarded to the top three open men's and open women's points leaders at the third and final contest. The surf series started off with the Rosarito Beach Surf Open on August. Registration for the Walter Caloca is available below.
