Rumors surf movie premier
A sold out crowd at the Lido Theater in Newport Beach was pumped for the premier of the much-anticipated surf film “Rumors,” (including big names like Jordy Smith, Mike Parsons, Gary Linden were there watching the much-anticipated movie) director, producer, and surfers are from Mexico (Mazatlan, Puerto Escondido, and Sayulita). A candid, fast-pace, up-close look at Mexico’s epic surf.
Director and co-producer of the film Mark Kronemeyer was beaming after seeing the turnout his film generated.
“A lot of people were really stoked about it. We were a bit scared and stressed out,” he said. “This is full on Mexico, you can see the high performance mexican surfers. You see a lot of Mexico, like the markets, the whales, the people, really unique stuff that wasn’t shown before.”
Kronemeyer, along with producer Alistair Calderon, spent two years shooting the film.
“Hopefully this film will help,” he said. “This film might clean up Mexico image a little bit, maybe more people will be going to Mexico. We live off the tourism. It’s getting better.”
L to R: Jorge Jimenez, David Rutherford (surfer in the movie), Alfredo Ramirez, and Humberto Aldrete.
