Great waves at the US/MX and Walter Caloca Open
- The first event, at San Miguel, on Saturday, March 12, was the 1st stop of the US-Mexico High School competition, which, in keeping with UAPO's mission seeks to promote competitive surfing among Pacific communities on both sides of the border. Series Finals will be at San Fernando in Mission Beach in June.
- The 2nd event, on Sunday, March 13, was the first anual Walter Caloca Open, which brought competitive surfing back to the world-class San Miguel point-break. The event was organized in honor of our friend Walter Caloca, a beloved US-born Ensenada-local who passed away last year. The 1st place of the Walter Caloca Open will be honored with a name plate. Each year the Official Surf Board Award will hold the new champion's name. The surf board was donated by Eduardo Echeagaray -San Miguel Surf Boards and will be kept safe at the Caloca's family until next event.
